Danny Michael Barbering

Years ago, when I first enrolled at Profile Institute of Barber-Styling (in Atlanta, GA), my main teacher and elder was Mr. Malachi Thigpen. He was around my Grandfather’s age. He spoke with us, daily, about the possibilities we had before us. He pushed us to complete our training and legitimize the craft that seemed to come so natural to many of us.
He often explained that we should be no less professional than a doctor. That we should also develop ourselves to be just as sanitary, technical and dignified in our approach. We were constantly reminded of the many avenues that could be explored through this profession, and that we need never be limited to haircutting. Giving thanks for all of the lessons and connections that barbering has brought me over the years.
