The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) has confirmed a detection of New World Screwworm (NWS) in Zavala County, Texas. While this detection is not in Waller County, livestock owners are encouraged to remain vigilant and take preventive measures to protect their animals.

🐄 Help Protect Your Herd:

✔️ Clean and cover any open wounds on livestock.

✔️ Regularly inspect animals for flies, larvae, or unusual wounds.

✔️ Avoid management practices that may create open wounds whenever possible.

✔️ Promptly report suspicious wounds or signs of infestation to your veterinarian or animal health officials.

Early detection and prevention are critical in protecting Texas livestock and preventing the spread of New World Screwworm.

The Waller County Sheriff's Office Livestock Division encourages all cattle owners and livestock producers to stay informed and monitor their animals closely.
