After 20 years we are closing the farm in Texas. We plan to relocate to a smaller operation soon, moving to a more liveable and farmable climate. We will be doing something that includes agriculture, permaculture, and counterculture once we settle in our new location. I will continue to go to the Urban Harvest Farmers Market every Saturday through October.
All our livestock has been sold, though we may restock at the future location.
Thanks for all the support we have had through the years. I will keep this page and notify you of our new location when we have found it.
It will take a long time to make this transition and I am excited about what will come next.
I have a concept of a plan..
I caught this little guy stealing eggs. I relocated him somewhere where he can earn his keep as a rat snake, not an egg thief. Then I returned to the hen house to find his sister was skeedaddling out a crack in the floor. I wasn't fast enough to catch her. Later.

One of those who helped guide me into adulthood has died.
When I was 17 I walked into Berea College without a clue. When I wandered in to the Tab, the theatre on campus, I was welcomed without hesitation, by Paul and Barbara (Byrd) Power and all the older theatre students that were preparing a summer theatre season. They just put me to work. “Do you want to know how to work the light board?”. That was the beginning of me finding my path that made college a wonderful experience.
I learned so much about compassion and understanding. There was a peacefulness about her that could fill a room.
From when I was in her living room watching Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon, to having lunch with her at the college farm store this February, she remained a mentor, and she was the last one standing. Her brain never slowed and physically she looked better than any 90 year old I have known.
I am grateful to have been one of the many she watched over and grateful that she and Paul are part of my journey.
Rest in peace, Byrd. So many of us love you.
The photo is from almost a decade ago, but the last one I had of us.
