A fraudster bites the dust...

Retro Investigations had begun investigating Rodolfo DeHoyos until it was found the Riverside Police Department had an open case against him. We then referred all victims to the PD.

I am happy to say that DeHoyos who was extorting money from business in Riverside County regarding ADA (supposed) violations was convicted on 143 counts which included: Threatening letters to extort money; Grand Theft; Attempted extortion; and Extortion. He is to be sentenced 4/7/17. He should be gone for a long time and businesses can give a small sigh of relief.

More of this needs to be done so that these fraudsters will learn a lesson and stop scamming businesses out of their hard earned money.

One for the good guys!!

Please be careful. I heard of a couple of scams that everyone needs to be aware of:

First: Since the IRS (phony) phone calls weren't working the scammers are now sending out "letters" from the IRS. Apparently, you cannot tell the difference from the real ones. They are asking for small amounts of money...nothing too large. They estimate the scammers have received over $100 million from people who are just writing checks. If you get anything from the IRS call them and verify it is really from them.

Second: The scammers are calling parents (they know your names and the names of your children) and telling them that they have kidnapped your child. Then you hear screaming in the background.. They tell you not to hang up the phone and if you do, they will kill your child. They are giving detailed instructions as to what you need to do and how much money they are trying to extort from you. Make sure you have a way of contacting your child if you are on your cell phone and receive a call. Verify with the school or their friends, or get in touch with them somehow.

Everyone be safe and hold on to your wallets.

The recent events are very disturbing to those of us who were in law enforcement and strove very hard to uphold the law and protect the citizenry. We left our biases and prejudices at home as soon as we put on the uniform and treated everyone as equitably and fairly as possible.

We support law enforcement officers who are doing their jobs with honesty and integrity. We denounce those who take advantage of their badge and/or position and do not use it to enhance their profession and their neighborhoods. It does not matter what your position - from the lowest officer on the street to the highest position in the department. Everyone should do their jobs with the trust afforded them.

I don't like to Monday morning quarterback as I have been in that position and it is not a comfortable one, however, officers need to treat everyone with respect no matter what color (or for any other reason).

ALL LIVES MATTER & WE SUPPORT OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT BROTHERS AND SISTERS. May those who have lost their lives rest in peace and may they hear God say "Job well done". For those who are still active we wish them well and safety to go home to their families..

I am proud to call those I worked with my brothers and sisters in blue. It is a ties that binds us together and I am proud to call them friends.
