I'm thankful and happy to have been a part of the Queen City Ballet 2023 Nutcracker performance with our beautiful daughter Kaitlyn Ruch. It's amazing what the dancers can do. I was a movable prop. The artistic director was telling me to straighten my left leg for this picture. That must be a ballet move I haven't learned, I thought it was straight. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks. I'm glad I didn't have all the costume changes Kaitlyn and her associates had to pull off.

Trees Grow – Reaching to All That Nourishes Them
Last fall I collected some ponderosa pine cones. Left them in a bucket inside for a while and the cones opened making the seeds easy to see. Then I put them in a jar of water and separated the sinkers from the floaters. I’ll plant some of both to see how they do. The next step was to put them in the bottom of the refrigerator for 8 or so weeks – mimicking winter time.
Update – I have some seeds planted. I will plant some more, working with different potting situations.
