During deck safety month, we are offering ICC's outstanding book on Deck Construction at 20% off the list price.

ICC’s book on deck construction fills an important need in the construction industry and inspection world. Written by Code Check co-author Glenn Mathewson (also of BuildingCodeCollege.com) the book includes all the relevant text on decks from the 2021 International Residential Code as well as commentary on several related aspects of the code. Glenn represented the North American Deck and Railing Assocation (NADRA) in their code initiatives for the 2021 IRC. Glenn was named Educator of the Year in 2021 by the International Code Council. This book is THE authoritative source of information on decks.

We especially recommend this book to persons who do not own their own copy of the 2021 IRC. It provides clear explanations of several topics that are often related to the addition of a deck, including safety glazing, stairs, landings, clearances to electrical equipment, fire separation distances, permitting requirements, and much more.

Wednesday evening, November 13, I will be presenting a Zoom seminar on Safety Glazing for the Silicon Valley chapter of CREIA/ASHI. The meeting starts at 6:30 Pacific time, and I will be talking from 7:00 to 8:30. Advance registration is required. The fee is $10. I realize this might be kind of late for east-coasters, though I hope some can join us.
The topics we will cover include types of glazing, history of the relevant codes and standards, wire-reinforced glass, safety films, areas requiring safety glazing other than those subject to human impact, glazing hazards not addressed by codes, and of course the questions that come up along the way.
The Code Check web site has a link to the registration page. Our link is https://codecheck.com/seminars/.
