Join us for a summer full of reading and fun activities. Our program is a six (6) week incentive base program, encouraging children from kindergarten through 6th grade to spend time reading throughout the summer months. Our Reading Program is free to Markham and Posen Library Card holders.

The benefits of Summer Reading are to broaden vocabulary and not lose comprehension skills and reading speed. Children who read four or more books over the summer fare better on reading comprehension tests in the fall than their peers who read one or no books over the summer.

To register for our program prior to Kick-Off day, please call the circulation desk at 708-331-0130. Reading Kits will be dispersed on our Kick-Off day, Monday, June 11, 2017 at 11:00 A.M.

For Readers that are unable to attend the library for our Summer Reading Program, the Bookmobile will have access to reading logs, incentives, and some activities. Please sign-up on the Bookmobile to participate.
