Math Demystified
This is the second in a series of videos I made with my friend and colleague Dr. Makoto Yoshida on subitizing. By associating the ten-frame dot cards with numeral cards students can understand numbers as quantities.
Subitizing, from the Latin "subitus" meaning "suddenly," is the ability to instantly recognize the number of objects in a set. It is important to learn how to subitize both perceptually (instantly say the number of dots in an image) and perceptually (see the image as composed of subsets). This is the first of a series of videos I made with my good friend and colleague Dr. Makoto Yoshida on how to teach subitizing to young children.
