As we can see placing a cotton roll on one side doesn’t establish the same occlusion as without it.

So why do we do it when we deliver single-unit crown or restorations?

I took these pictures and we all can see space between the upper and lower arch is not same with and without cotton rolls.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁.

As I mentioned earlier along with spacing we diagnosed occlusal plane discrepancy and canted midline.

Discussed treatment plan with patient and timeline.

Transferred the mock-up onto patients' teeth, to evaluate occlusal plane and midline correction maintaining tooth size proportions. As we can see after mock up transfer, there is significant improvement in the esthetics and symmetry. We corrected midline and smile line.

Last picture is with temporaries/provisionals, in order to get an idea about how the final restoration is going to look.
