Haslet Elementary Music

April highlights:
K & 1st grades are working hard on their end-of-year awards programs. Kindergarten students are beginning to read picture rhythms in preparation for note reading next year and we are playing rhythm games with rhythmic speech.

2nd & 3rd grades worked hard on their folk dancing programs and just completed them last week. We will be finishing the year working on pitch and adding solfege to new songs.

Fourth and fifth grades are working on their composition projects. Fifth grades have begun Eastman counting language which will carry them into middle school.

Percussion club wrapped up with an amazing performance at Artisans’
Expo. A few ukulele students surprised the school with a pop up performance on the patio.

We’re also reviewing in all grades 2nd-5th our Italian musical words for tempo, dynamics and articulation. We still have a lot to learn before school is out. It’s a busy season in the music room!
