General Job Function:
Responsible for assisting the Early Childhood teacher with planning and implementing daily programs; fostering the spiritual, educational, and social needs by creating a positive atmosphere, cultivating individual ideas and providing a solid foundation for the children’s success.
Key Responsibilities:
-Express a commitment to providing quality child care for the children within the assigned age group
-Help maintain all classroom programs, activities and involvement
-Ensure and assist in maintaining a fun, innovative, safe and clean environment
-Establish programs that will aid in the development of individual gifts and creativity
-Responsible for consistently meeting classroom demands and assisting the teacher
-All employees must rotate cleaning in the center
-Must notify the director immediately if repairs to a room, building, equipment or toys are needed
-Recommends supplies and equipment needed for the educational program
-Plans and holds conferences with parents of the children in the class
-Provides daily written feedback for the parents
-Actively participates in daily group activities to ensure the physical and emotional well being of each child within the group
-Use the appropriate mechanisms to document incidents and excessive behavior disruptions
-Adhere to cleaning duties as assigned including but not limited to mopping, sweeping, cleaning and organizing classrooms, bathrooms and/or common areas within CASLC facilities
Communicates with the parent about the children’s progress and identifies any behavior disruptions
-All candidates must be comfortable with rotating between different classrooms
-Adhere to all other duties assigned by the director
Experience/Abilities/Skills
-Previous work experience in a child care environment i preferred
-Able to establish effective relationships with parents and children
-Good written and verbal communication skills
-Able to physically and mentally react appropriately and immediately to unexpected circumstances
-Able to openly and honestly communicate
-Able to remain positive, upbeat and friendly at all times
-Able to manage multiple skills efficiently
-Able to develop positive working relationships with peers
-Able to bend and stoop to interact on a child’s level throughout the day
Education
-High school diploma or equivalent is required Associated degree within a related field is preferred
- All candidates must have their CDA(Child Development Association) or an associates degree within a related field.
-All candidates must meet the licensing, certificates, or specialized training requirements mandated by the Illinois state law and regulatory agencies
