** Join MSA at the 56th Annual IFA Legal Symposium, on May 5-7, 2024 in Washington D.C., presented by the International Franchise Association and the 2024 Legal Symposium Task Force. **

Attendance at the 2024 Symposium has never been more critical. 2023 saw significant regulatory and legislative activity that will impact franchising as a business model. The Symposium is also an invaluable networking opportunity, for reconnecting with friends and colleagues and meeting the businesspeople that make franchise systems tick.

On Monday, May 6 from 12 noon to 1:30 pm, Kay Ainsley, MSA Worldwide Managing Director, will moderate a roundtable on “Operating Manual Best Practices.” This roundtable will enable attendees to discuss the value of well-designed and functional operating manuals in a franchise system with their peers.

Also on Monday, May 6 from 12 noon to 1:30 pm, Andrew Seid, MSA Worldwide Senior Consultant, will facilitate a roundtable on “Social Franchising - Using the Franchise Model to Benefit Society.” Attendees will be able to discuss what Social Franchising is, learn more about how it works, and share best practices.

Typically these roundtable discussions are the most helpful in finding direct and productive answers to lingering questions, since attendees can discuss with their peers how they’ve solved or addressed these or similar issues in the past.

On Monday May 6 from 3:30 to 4:45 pm, Michael Seid, MSA Worldwide Managing Director, will speak in the breakout session "State of Unionization: The Intersection of Unions and Technology." As recent events have shown, labor organizing activity has reached new heights at unprecedented speeds, by leveraging digital tools, a values-driven workforce, and a labor-friendly administration. This session will be a practical discussion of the tug-of-war that is happening with unions demanding higher wages and more benefits as employers shift to AU and robotics to mitigate rising labor costs. This session provides 1.15 CFE credits (with completed session evaluation).

CFE Special Session ** Gaining an In-Depth Understanding of Franchising **

Join us Saturday, February 17 at the IFA Convention for this special 8-hour program!

Franchising is an expansive method of distribution used by over 150 distinct industries. While there are commonalities across franchisors and within industries, many franchise professionals only get to understand the dynamics of franchising through the lens of their company or a handful of common approaches used by franchisors in their industry. This can often have a chilling effect on a company’s ability to strengthen their current franchise offerings, and can also limit an individual’s mobility and career opportunities in the franchise space.

This 8-hour program provides 7 CFE credits and is an essential addition to the learnings available in the IFA’s CFE classes. The program is based on the graduate school course on franchising offered at The Ohio State University, which is now part of the IFA’s CFE program.

Facilitated by: Michael Seid, CFE, Managing Director, MSA Worldwide • Kay Ainsley, CFE, Managing Director, MSA Worldwide • Marisa Faunce, CFE, Partner, Plave Koch PLC • Andrew Seid, CFE, Senior Consultant, MSA Worldwide • Marla Rosner, CFE, Senior Learning & Development Consultant, MSA Worldwide
