Thanks for your commitment to the game of golf and the young people you worked with over many years at Goodwin Park Golf Course. You will be missed by many who knew you and shared in the game that you loved so much.

It is with deep sadness we share news of Kevin Tierney's unexpected passing. "Coach Kevin" as he was known, was a part of our First Tee - Connecticut community as an exemplary coach for almost 20 years. In that span of time, he impacted hundreds of kids in his encouraging, motivating way. Always asking our staff members for news of his former students and alums of First Tee - Connecticut, Kevin's caring nature for the kids went far beyond the lesson tee. He had a straightforward way of teaching golf fundamentals so that kids understood and processed the info. Mark Murnane, our Program VP, recalls starting his tenure with First Tee and being struck by Kevin's manner with kids, doing his best to emulate his simple approach. Kevin became a mentor to Mark and influenced many other coaches who admired his communicative style and ability to motivate his students to practice and play the game outside of their group lessons. He had a keen eye for kids that showed potential for the game competitively and nurtured those experiences. When we kick off our spring group lessons shortly, we will wholeheartedly feel this loss and miss Kevin's familiar face and presence on Tuesdays at Cromwell. Our sympathies go out to his family, friends and numerous students he coached.
