Of my three-part songwriting process, the third and final step, writing the lyrics, is what I enjoy most.

Perhaps because I am approaching the finish line, I have a sustained excitement and energy that only ebbed and flowed while producing the music in step one and creating the melody in step two.

Or maybe it is because the heavy lifting was in the music & melody making; with the music and melody in place, the lyrics are already conceived and fully baked, I only need to birth them on paper.

Or certainly it is because I can write lyrics anytime, anywhere. I have written lyrics while on the plane, in the library, and even as I sit in near darkness in a music hall, club or theatre inspired by the words or sounds that has come from the artist standing centerstage.

It is in this sweet love affair with Lyric that the world will move all around us and we can still do our thing. In the quiet, in the darkness, in the air….everywhere.

I wrote the lyrics to Window in a couple of hours. The lyrics here are part of the bridge, the place where I can change it up and dig into saying it the Scorpio way, with more depth and in complete pleasure.
