Today is the start of Accessibility Awareness Week! This week is about learning and understanding the disabilities of students and faculty on campus and celebrating them. Not all disabilities are visible and the ones that are are important as well. As a community, it is important that we understand the disabilities of others so that we can improve the accessibility of everything on our campus.

Beginning in 2009, Transgender Day of Visibility (TDoV) has aimed to celebrate the transgender and the gender non-conforming community in all its glory. Rachel Crandall, a psychotherapist based in Michigan, sought to create a day that would recognize not only the brave trailblazers of the transgender community, yet those who are living representation. The day recognizes the accomplishments of the transgender and gender non-conforming people as well as gardening attention to their struggles. Today please take the time to either celebrate or educate yourself on this persevering community.
