If summer feels like it flies by, it kind of does. Summer is the full- on Yang season. Its nature is bright, quick, hot, expansive.

By contrast, days in the winter months can seem to take forever. The energy is dark, slow, cold, contracted. That's Yin.

We need 'em both for a dynamic growing season. Thankfully, we have access to the energy of both Yang and Yin all year long.

If the Yang of summer has you overheated, here are some tips to access your yin to balance it out:

* Eat the cooling fruits of the season: melons, berries, etc
* Stay hydrated with some sour herbal teas like hibiscus or lemonade (sour is astringent and helps prevent fluid loss)
* Add electrolytes to water to maintain fluid balance when you're sweating
* Balance the hot quick energy of summer with slower movement
* Sweat, it's your body's natural sprinker system
* Get in-person social. Summer is the fire season and it's all about connection and lightness of being: laughter, time with friends, and heart to hearts
*Pop in for a seasonal acupuncture tune-up if the heat's draining your Qi

National Geographic (May 2026) just published an article on how acupuncture needles trigger measurable, body-wide responses — activating immune cells, releasing pain-modulating chemicals, and altering brain activity.

A team of researchers led at the University of Illinois Chicago just completed the world's first double-blind acupuncture randomized control trial — finding that real acupuncture provides pain relief lasting up to 12 weeks, compared to just 4 weeks for sham acupuncture.

Nice to see that modern science is finally catching up to ancient tradition.

Thanks to everyone who joined our free Zoom session on nervous system regulation yesterday!

We offer these because positive social connection is one of the most powerful ways we regulate our nervous system — and that's not just a nice idea, it's biology.

It's also the reason Finding Your Anchor is a group experience.

If you missed yesterday, but are interested in joining the coaching series to gain support with your own nervous system regulation, check the link below. Spaces are still available and early bird pricing is open until April 23. 👇

Sorry -- got spammed by a bot and so need to remove our registration until we can change the Zoom registration .... If you're interested, Reach out by calling my office at at 717-303-8579
