Banking Through History! 🎉❤️🤍💙

The National Bank Act of 1863 helped create a safer and more consistent banking system in the United States. It established federally regulated banks and introduced a single national currency that was backed by the U.S. government. The law also set rules for how much money banks needed to keep on hand, what types of loans they could offer, and how they would be monitored to protect customers. While state banks were still allowed to issue their own money, a later tax on state banknotes, a piece of paper money issued by a bank or government that could be used to buy goods and services, made that practice too expensive. This lead to one standardized currency across the country.
