During Women’s History Month, The Swift Group is proud to continue our tradition of spotlighting the incredible women who help drive our mission forward.

Our next profile features Laura Rodowsky. Laura plays a pivotal role as FSO. Her knowledge, experience, and leadership ensure the safety of our personnel and facilities. The impact of this role is not only felt by our teams, but also the customers we support.

We asked Laura to share her perspective on being a woman in leadership —

How did you get into leadership/what are your past experiences with leadership?
I really had to pause with this question because I don’t ever think of myself as a leader. I’ve always considered myself as part of the team, working hard in the trenches like everyone else. I suppose over time, I just grew into the role without even realizing it. I guess I would have to say that as I learned more, I developed much less fear and much more confidence (as we all do with age). I take pride in doing my job well and I’ve learned A LOT over the past 25 years in Security.

What's your advice for other women trying to get into leadership?
My advice for other women is to never stop learning, be confident in your abilities, and remember that second guessing yourself is bound to happen, no matter how many years you’ve been working in your field. Even someone who has done a job role for many years can’t possibly know everything, as things change over time. So, it’s important to stay up to date on your training, network with others, and never be afraid to say the phrase, “I don’t know the answer to that, but I will find out.” Being a leader isn’t about knowing everything there is to know. It’s about confidence in your ability to figure it out. And second guessing or having doubts is healthy. It means you’re smart enough to know what you don’t know and humble enough to accept you don’t have all the answers.

What's your favorite thing about working for The Swift Group?
My favorite thing about working for The Swift Group is the trust that has been placed in me to perform my job. I have the autonomy to not only stay productive, but it allows me to prioritize effectively and deliver results I can be proud of.
