We don’t teach rhythm.
We use rhythm to help young people remember who they are.

They don’t just need information.
They need regulation.
They need belonging.
They need experiences that awaken the power already within them.

That’s why we drum.
That’s why we move.
That’s why we breathe.

People often ask how you build community.

You invest in people.

I see time.

Time invested.
Time shared.
Time willingly given so someone else can learn, grow, and one day do the same for someone else.

I see generosity.

People who didn’t have to show up…
showing up.

Teachers pouring into students.
Students becoming teachers.
A community choosing to pour into one another.

I feel gratitude.

Gratitude for every teacher who gives without keeping score, every student who embraces the responsibility of carrying it forward, and every person who understands that culture is carried through relationships.

To me, this is cultural wellness.

Not just preserving culture, but preserving the values that allow it to thrive.

Learning together.
Serving together.
Growing together.

The most important thing passed on this week wasn’t a rhythm or a dance.

It was an example.

An example of what it looks like to invest in people.

Because time given with intention doesn’t end with the person who receives it.

It becomes part of who they are.

And one day…

they pass it on.
