Sergei Godunov passed away this Saturday. He visited ICASE in 1997 to receive his award. His contributions to science and CFD live on.

Sergei Godunov - Wikipedia Sergei Konstantinovich Godunov (Russian: Серге́й Константи́нович Годуно́в; 17 July 1929 – 15 July 2023) was a Soviet and Russian professor at the Sobolev Institute of Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Novosibirsk, Russia.

Professor H. Thomas Banks (79), North Carolina State University Department of Mathematics, Leroy B. Martin Jr. Distinguished Professor and Associate Director of CRSC, passed away last night, December 30th, 2019, peacefully in his sleep. He had been diagnosed with a glioblastoma (brain tumor) about two months ago and given a pessimistic prognosis. Professor Banks was and expert in control theory and parameter estimation for delay and partial differential equations; computational methods; statistical and mathematical methods for inverse problems; modeling in biological and physical problems.
