On this Juneteenth, we reflect on the ongoing work toward equity.

The Emancipation Oak, still thriving on Hampton University’s campus, made history in 1863, when the first reading of the Emancipation Proclamation in the South took place beneath its limbs—two years before Juneteenth.

Today, we’re honored to grow a piece of that history here at Hampton Proton.

As we care for a sapling of the historic tree, we’re reminded daily that the fight for justice includes the fight for health equity.

Last week, students from VCU’s radiography program visited Hampton Proton for a presentation and tour by our Director of Clinical Operations, Erin Erdos, and Lead Radiation Therapist, Ashley Lucento.

The students learned an Introduction to Proton Therapy and got a behind-the-scenes look at Hampton Proton’s recently renovated Imaging Suite, featuring our MRI and CT Scanner, treatment rooms and gantry, and IBA’s Main Control Room.
