π As Pride Month comes to a close, TTASC reflects on the heart of this month's message: inclusion IS prevention.
When every young person β regardless of who they are or who they love β has access to safe spaces, affirming adults, and quality mental health support, we are doing prevention work at its finest.
Thank you for joining us this June. The work doesn't end with the month β it's woven into everything we do year-round. Keep showing up. Keep advocating. Keep preventing.

π³οΈβπ Mental health matters β especially during Pride Month, as we honor the strength and resilience of the LGBTQIA+ community.
LGBTQIA+ individuals are more likely to face mental health challenges due to discrimination, stigma, and lack of access to affirming care. π¬ But community connection, early intervention, and informed support can make all the difference.
Want to deepen your understanding? Check out our on-demand presentation: βCurrent Issues of Mental, Emotional, Behavioral Healthβ β available now on our website! This training explores emerging trends, warning signs, and effective strategies for promoting mental well-being across our communities.

π§ : Substance use prevention must be intersectional.
Research shows that LGBTQIA+ adults are more than twice as likely as non-LGBTQIA+ adults to use illicit substances, largely due to minority stress β the chronic stress caused by stigma, discrimination, and the experience of marginalization.
Prevention strategies that address root causes β not just behaviors β are essential. This means:
β
Creating affirming environments
β
Addressing social determinants of health
β
Training prevention professionals in cultural humility
When we reduce minority stress, we reduce risk. That's prevention at its most powerful.
