This is such a dedicated , community effort to save the historic Civil War Monument erected July 4, 1877 on the Derby Green. It's such a pleasure to work with the Valley Community Foundation in association with Derby, Ansonia, and Shelton to preserve this artwork, base and notable cannons or Parrott rifles. The 4,200 pound rifles are early casts by the West Point Foundry and are stamped with numbers 32, 34, 35 and 40, and all with the date of 1861.
