✨Core day✨
Yesterday, I took my last in training exam ever. Kevin took his last week. For those of you who don’t know, that exam is required of all residents annually in their respective fields. It’s kind of crazy to think that we made it to our last year of residency after all we’ve been through, and it got me in my feels a little. I wish our old selves would have known that we were going to be just fine.
To the 2013 Jennifer who had her first panic attack ever studying for the MCAT
To the 2015 Jennifer who only applied to a few local medical schools because of a serious relationship that she thought was going to be forever
To the 2016 Kevin who had a PI try to sabotage his chances of becoming a doctor
To the 2017 Jennifer who thought she was done for and wasn’t going to make it
To the 2017 Kevin who’s advisor basically told him to give up now
To the 2018 Jennifer and Kevin who took a gamble on each other and decided to leave the island unofficially engaged
To the 2019 Jennifer and Kevin who didn’t know if they would make it past Step 1
To the 2020 Jennifer who had a panic attack in the middle of Step 2 and had to void her test and reschedule it
To the 2021 Jennifer and Kevin who were just hoping and praying the match was not going to separate them and their unborn child at the time
To the 2021 Jennifer and Kevin who just became brand new parents, bought a new house, moved to a brand new state, and started a new job all at the same time
To the 2021 Jennifer and Kevin who had some adjustment struggles in intern year
To the 2021 Jennifer who flunked her intern in training exam
To the 2023 Jennifer and Kevin who had another baby but was unable to secure full time daycare for him
If only you knew what we know now… everything will be ok.
