This past Friday night, the East Central Traffic Enforcement Network traveled to Louisville, where the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office hosted the monthly Network meeting.
Multiple car seats were distributed and several motorists were screened for impairment. Multiple warnings were given Distracted Driving, Seatbelts, and Equipment Violations.
We thank Sheriff Hutchins for his hospitality as well as Burke County S.O, Wrens P.D., Louisville P.D, Sparta P.D., Bartow P.D., Grovetown P.D, GSP, and Waynesboro P.D. for participating as well.

Tonight, the East Central Network assisted MCCD with a Commercial Vehicle road check at the westbound I-20 Weigh Station in Grovetown.
Personnel from GSP, Grovetown Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, and the Burke County Sheriff’s Office also participated and assisted.
Several hundred vehicles were checked with multiple violations being discovered.
With 94 CMV fatalities on our roads this year, MCCD and GOHS remain committed to working with our partner agencies to keep Georgia’s roadways safe for all of our Citizens as well as those passing through.

This evening we returned to the City of Wrens for our April network meeting followed by a road check.
Wrens Chief John Maynard, gave a very informative presentation on Mental Health as it pertains to law enforcement officers.
During the road check that followed, several impaired drivers were removed from the roadways along with multiple individuals possessing illicit narcotics.
Several car seats and booster seats were provided and installed by our Child Safety Seat technicians as well.
ECTEN and our law enforcement partners remain comitted to keeping the motoring public safe and to driving down the number of fatalities on our roadways.

We would like to thank Sheriff Hutchins and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for hosting last evening’s Network Meeting and road checks that followed.
We were also assisted by Officers from multiple agencies including Wadley, Wrens, Grovetown, Georgia State Patrol, Stapleton, and the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.
A total of 8 impaired drivers were removed from the roadways during the evening along with multiple other offenses.
Equally notable, and just as important, were the 8 child restraint seats that were provided during the evening as well.
Our goal remains to drive down the number of traffic fatalities on Georgia’s Roadways and ensure that our citizens and visitors can travel safely to their destinations.
This New Year’s Eve, make sure to plan a ride as you celebrate. This can be a ride share, a friend, or a designated driver. All across the region, law enforcement will be out and about checking for impaired drivers.
