The woman of stone

The little girl who learned to wear her own armor
because somewhere along the way, she had to

misread, misplaced
swimming an ocean she was never taught to name

crashing- again and again,
like the map in her hands was missing pieces

In her darkest moments she wondered,
Is it me?
Am I difficult to love?

Still- she kept going
with no proof she belonged anywhere at all

“When I grow up, I want to be a woman of stone”

Not the kind that hardens to survive
but the kind that stands- steady
when everything else gives way

A place her children can lean
when the waves come crashing in

Healing came softly-
not all at once, but in the knowing
that God never lost me
He was guiding me to you all along
