Kudos to Eric Vitale - Senior Investigator with SLO County DA Office. He has methodically and diligently followed up on real estate scams, catching crooks, and making our county the only one in the state that is proactive. Currently, in SLO Country, there are 101 properties being targeted, some multiple times. At our realtor association meeting, he shared that crooks impersonate sellers to get properties listed with a real estate agent, using false IDs and forged signatures. Then they sell the property and take the proceeds. They target properties where the owner is less likely to be aware of activity. Be sure to choose your REALTOR carefully and keep an eye on your property!
