The U.S. Navy Hospital Corps was established on June 17, 1898, when President William McKinley signed the act of Congress officially organizing it. Hospital Corpsmen (HMs) celebrate their birthday on this date every year, honoring a legacy as the Navy's most decorated rate, Corpsmen have earned 22 Medals of Honor, 179 Navy Crosses, and hundreds of other valorous awards since their creation in 1898.

In order to determine the cause of the power outage, power will be secured to lower base. It will take two hours to determine cause and unknown timeframe for restoration.

Please follow your chain of commands recommendations.

Buildings affected will be: 87, 1, pier 2, 564, 553, 554, 476, pier 6, 107, gate 6, 38, 17, 75, 85, 76, 527, 89, pier 8, and pier 10. Any questions or concerns contact EOC at (860) 694-3814.

Over the weekend, SUBASE had the honor to host the U.S. Submarine Veterans’ Holland Club Induction Ceremony. A chance to honor those veterans who qualified in Submarines over 50 years ago and show how strong the Submariner community is together.

SUBASE Sailors joined together for the 2026 Special Olympics of Connecticut Law Enforcement Pass the Torch Run. Sailors this year ran together from the Submarine Force Museum to the Submarine Veterans WWII Memorial in Groton.
