Dark areas on the body are common, especially in areas where there’s friction, shaving, sweating, or irritation.

For the most part it’s normal.
Can it be treated? Yes.

What can help:

Glycolic Acid
Helps gently exfoliate dead skin cells, smooth texture, and brighten the appearance of uneven tone over time.

Regular Exfoliation
Using exfoliating gloves 1–2x weekly can help remove buildup, but don’t scrub too hard. Irritation can make darkness worse.

Brightening Agents
Look for ingredients like niacinamide, kojic acid, alpha arbutin, licorice root, turmeric, and tranexamic acid to support a more even tone.

Reminder:
Dark spots don’t fade overnight. Be consistent, moisturize, reduce friction, and avoid harsh scrubbing.

👋🏾 Not All Vitamin C Is Created Equal

😅 The “best” vitamin C isn’t the strongest one, it’s the one your skin can tolerate and benefit from consistently.

✨ L-Ascorbic Acid (LAA)
Best for: Oily Skin
✔ Most researched form of vitamin C
✔ Powerful antioxidant protection
✔ Helps brighten and fade discoloration
✔ Works best at lower pH levels

✨ Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (THD)
Best for: Sensitive Skin
✔ Oil-soluble and gentle
✔ Less irritating than traditional vitamin C
✔ Helps improve skin tone and firmness
✔ Great for those who can't tolerate LAA

✨ Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (SAP)
Best for: Acne-Prone Skin
✔ Stable and gentle vitamin C derivative
✔ Helps brighten post-acne marks
✔ Antimicrobial properties that may help reduce breakouts
✔ Less likely to cause irritation
