California’s battle over SIBTF reform just escalated.
A Senate budget proposal would tie part of the Division of Workers’ Compensation’s funding to Gov. Newsom’s proposed overhaul of the Subsequent Injuries Benefits Trust Fund.
With employer assessments rising from $35 million in 2015 to nearly $860 million today, the fight over eligibility standards, benefit calculations, and pending claims is far from over.
The move could signal that SIBTF reform negotiations will continue well beyond the June budget deadline.
