Remember the patio designs y’all voted on a couple weeks ago? We landed on an updated version of Option A with a designated raised garden bed area, and a seating area that uses a firepit as a coffee table when not in use.

The retaining wall will double as a seat wall for some banquet seating for a round dining table, and we fit in some counter space, storage and a spot for the grill.

The patio is nestled under a shed-roof style pergola to help it truly feel like an outdoor room, and to add privacy from the neighbors.

The client has filled her home with beautiful original art and fun colors, and our goal was to bring the rest of the property up to the same standards. Curb appeal, layers of color and texture, generous welcoming front walkway, screening from neighbors, and some functional space in the backyard.

Takeaway: you can never go wrong with timeless materials. I’m excited to see this one grow and mature over the years!

Which patio layout do you prefer?

The yard slopes fairly steeply down to the rear property line, and it proposing built-in planters to hug the patio and double as the retaining wall. The pergola above will make it feel like a cozy outdoor room.
