LOOK WHAT YOU DID, HUNT COUNTY! ❤️

Late yesterday afternoon, we shared that our freezers were empty.

You said YES!

Because of your generous financial gifts, we were able to purchase 305 pounds of meat from our Neighborhood Walmart to help stock our pantry.

We also want to thank everyone who donated meat directly to Hunt County Shared Ministries and our amazing food rescue partners who made sure we had meat available today. Every donation, large or small, helped make a difference.

Today, families who came through our pantry were able to take home protein because this community stepped up.

This is what makes Hunt County so special. When a need is shared, people respond with compassion, generosity, and a heart to help their neighbors.

From all of us at Hunt County Shared Ministries… thank you. Thank you for trusting us. Thank you for giving. Thank you for making sure our neighbors have food on their tables.

Together, we are changing lives, one meal, one family, and one act of kindness at a time. ❤️

🐱 Happy National Kitten Day! 🐱

Today we’re celebrating our furry friends and sharing something many people don’t realize…

When we have it available, Hunt County Shared Ministries shares dog and cat food with many of our senior neighbors.

Why? Because pets are so much more than animals.

❤️ They provide companionship when someone lives alone.

❤️ They help reduce loneliness and anxiety.

❤️ They give their owners a reason to get up each morning.

❤️ They offer unconditional love during some of life’s hardest seasons.

We’ve met seniors who quietly skip meals so they can make sure their dog or cat has enough to eat. No one should have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding the companion who brings them comfort every day.

That’s why pet food donations matter.

The next time you’re shopping, if you don’t feel led to purchase food for our pantry, would you consider picking up a bag or a few cans of dog or cat food instead? Every donation helps us care for the whole family, including the four-legged members.

Your kindness keeps tails wagging, purrs going, and hearts a little less lonely across Hunt County.

Thank you for helping us continue to say YES! to our neighbors—one bag of pet food at a time. 🐾

Community service is about so much more than checking a box.

Over the last three days, we’ve had the privilege of watching Sophia, an incoming 9th grader, begin working toward her 300 hours of high school community service at Hunt County Shared Ministries.

She quickly learned that serving our neighbors isn’t just one job—it’s many.

In just a few days, she has:
🩵 Packed food bags for families
🥕 Sorted fresh produce
💌 Handwritten thank-you notes to our volunteers
✉️ Learned how to address envelopes and why P.O. Boxes still matter
📁 Prepared VIP Tour packets
☕ Joined an impromptu coffee meeting at Prairie Coffee to see that some of the most important conversations happen outside the office

Most importantly, she’s learned about the families we serve and how every volunteer, every donor, and every act of kindness helps make hope possible in Hunt County.

Watching young people discover that they can make a difference is one of the best parts of what we do.

If you’re a student looking for community service hours, a parent who wants your child to learn the value of serving others, or an adult who’s been wondering how you can get involved, we’d love to welcome you.

Come spend a few hours with us.

You might leave with more than community service hours, you might leave with a new perspective, new friends, and a heart for serving your neighbors.

Thank you, Sophia, for spending part of your summer with us. We can’t wait to see all the amazing things you’ll do this school year! 💙

Update at 9:00 pm:

💙 You all said YES!

In just a few hours, our community has given $250 to help us purchase meat and protein for families visiting Hunt County Shared Ministries tomorrow.

Then we received another blessing. When our friends at Neighborhood Walmart learned we would be shopping first thing in the morning, they added $100 more!

That means we’ll be able to put more protein on the tables of the families we serve.

Thank you to everyone who gave, shared our post, prayed, and encouraged us. This is what makes Hunt County so special. When a need is shared, our community responds.

Tomorrow morning we’ll head to the store with $350 dedicated to purchasing meat and protein. We’ll share pictures so you can see your generosity at work.

Thank you for helping us say YES! to our neighbors.

This is our freezer today.

One day this week, 86 families came through our pantry in just 2½ hours. Tomorrow, we'll open our doors again, and this is all the meat and protein we have left to share.

The last time we shared that our freezers were nearly empty, the people of Hunt County showed up in an incredible way. Because of your generosity, our freezers filled back up, and together we made sure families had food on their tables. Thank you.

Today, we're asking for your help once again.

If you're able, please consider donating:
🥩 Beef
🍗 Chicken
🐖 Pork
🦃 Turkey
🐟 Fish

Donations can be dropped off at Hunt County Shared Ministries, 2805 King Street in Greenville, today through 5:00 p.m. or tomorrow beginning at 8:30 a.m.

If shopping isn't possible, a financial gift allows us to purchase meat at reduced prices and quickly restock our freezers.

Every package of protein makes a difference. Every donation helps us continue serving our neighbors with dignity, compassion, and hope.

Thank you for helping us continue to say YES! when families need us most.

❤️ Please share this post. Together, Hunt County can fill these freezers before we open our doors tomorrow.
