Divine Timber Frames

Last week's barn raising in southern Indiana went about as well as it possibly could have. We raised this frame in 6 hours. Big thanks to Fred Buckingham, Ethan Adams and Jeff Wagner for helping me pull it off. This old frame will be the centerpiece of a larger house. We'll be back down in a few weeks to start installing porches.

This reclaimed barn frame has come a loooong way since last year. Here are some raising day pics along with what it looked like when this project all began.

While is was a little tricky to take this barn apart and get this one bent to stand on its own without falling down (out of necessity, I only have 1 telehandler), it says a lot about the craftsmanship of these old barns. Built 150 years ago and still standing down to the very end.
