Hit-and-run highlights the importance of insurance coverage 04/13/2026

Had the opportunity to chat with Quentin from KRTV Great Falls about hit and run incidents this time. Sadly, my initial comment, not insurance related is - stay safe. We are living in different times, don’t find yourself in a road rage incident.

When it comes to coverage for such a thing -

1) collision is the only thing that will guarantee to repair or replace your car depending on the amount of damage suffered. (Deductible applicable.)

2) Medical payments will pay for you and your passengers for injuries, regardless of fault.(Carry as high as you can afford. This is usually the first thing I see dropped off of policy to generate savings from 1-800-insurance because it’s not required by law and is only there to protect you.)

3) Uninsured Motorist and Uninsured Motorist Property Damage may apply, carrier dependent. (Again- carry as high as you can afford. This also tends to be dropped off of policies to save $ because it is not required by law.)

4) List ALL the drivers in your household. Y’all carriers are getting awnry- if a driver involved is NOT LISTED and THEY LIVE at your address, carriers ARE NOT paying. They didn’t collect premium for that person, it was undisclosed information, and they are denying these claims. (This doesn’t apply to Aunt Edna from AR who may be borrowing a car while she visits this week.)

Have these conversations before a loss occurs - I hate answering questions after something is happened and little can be done to rectify the situation. Call me today to check your coverage and have a little peace of mind. 406-452-2956!
