Rick Griffin unveiled his Grateful Dead “Pharaoh” — a powerful fusion of Egyptology, psychedelia, and rock mythology. Created for the Dead’s 1984 Berkeley shows, this image stands as one of Rick’s late-era masterpieces — bridging the spirit of the ’60s with the evolving vision of the Dead’s mid-’80s sound.

The Pharaoh’s gaze, the skull, the lightning bolt — every element is pure Griffin: symbolic, spiritual, and timeless. Four decades later, it still radiates that unmistakable mix of mysticism and music that defined his art.
