Modern-day Aswan is a quirky mix of developed town (nowhere near as developed as Cairo though) and village life. The Nile looks just as clear, blue and wild as it probably did 3,000 years ago; Aswan is hands down where the Nile is at its most stunning in Egypt.

Because Aswan isn’t super developed, don’t expect a vast array of accommodation, restaurants and nightlife.

Built in the 1890s by Khedive Abbas II, the Montazah Park was originally a summer luxury destination for royalty to get away from Cairo during the hot months of summer. The ground has a total of three palaces built on it that were used by royalty as vacation homes. The gardens are very well maintained with a beautiful pink ornate bridge and a very attractive seaside park that is open to the public.

The palace is renowned for a distinctive design that combines different types of architectural styles: Byzantine, Gothic, Classic, a variety of Islamic styles, and it was decorated richly in the Baroque and Rococo styles that consist of amazing ornaments of plants and geometric designs.
