Vertical integration is a challenging business model and usually does not serve the small producer well....nor the consumer.

Walmart's new meatpacking plant opens today. What does it mean for the beef industry? It's a step the company took to reduce its reliance on the heavily consolidated beef industry. But, for some ranchers, it may represent a new monopoly of its own.

We have a few steers available that would make excellent 4H/FFA projects for next year's fairs. PM for details. They are reasonably priced and good quality for the show pen. While we do not particularly breed for show, we try to support our local youth in agriculture by providing an opportunity to show a quality commercial steer and make good money on the sale price.

One of our steers even graded Prime Plus, a grade only achieved by less than 2% of processed beef in the US/year. The young showman won the Carcass Merit Award that year as well!
