For our Saturday, May 9th performance we will be wearing one of our "traditional" tribal costumes.
This one consists of the following:
Black/colored lace choli, coin bra, tassel belts, Maharani 25 yard skirts and pantaloons.
Maharani is a Hindi/Sanskrit term meaning "great queen," used for the wife of a maharajah or a high-ranking princess. "Maharani fabric" generally refers to high-quality textiles inspired by Indian royal heritage, often characterized by intricate patterns like block prints, fine embroidery, or luxurious materials like silk and net. In contemporary design, it exists as both a specific category of premium net fabric used in bridal wear and a popular name for textile collections featuring Indian-inspired motifs like florals and paisleys.
