It’s been so warm lately it already feels like summer… but Spring Break is only just upon us! ☀️

Motion Matrix will be closed March 23–27 for our scheduled annual break. While classes are on pause, our team will be busy behind the scenes giving the facility some extra TLC so we’re ready to hit the ground running when everyone returns.

Enjoy the sunshine, soak up some family time, and we’ll see you back the week of March 30th!

Recently, our Motion Matrix family experienced a devastating medical emergency when Evelie, one of our beloved gymnasts, suffered a sudden neurological event during practice. Evelie was quickly transported to the emergency room, where doctors determined she had suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and needed immediate neurosurgical intervention. She underwent an emergent craniotomy to relieve the catastrophic intracranial pressure and was then life-flighted to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon where she remained in a medically induced coma for over a week. Evelie is currently receiving intensive rehabilitation at Randall Children’s Hospital but her true prognosis remains a mystery as continued diagnostic testing is needed but swelling and inflammation of her brain delays the process. This puts the family and our sweet Evelie in a state of limbo while they wait for the culprit within her brain to show itself.

Evelie is just 9 years old, a Level 4 gymnast on Team Matrix, and one of the bright lights of our gym. She is known for her determination, her sweet & spicy spirit, and the joy she brings to everyone around her. Our entire Motion Matrix community — her teammates, coaches, and families — are heartbroken by this sudden crisis and we feel incomplete without her. But, we are also united in hope and support for Evelie and her family as they face the long road of healing ahead.

Right now, our greatest wish is to surround Evelie with the strength of the gymnastics community that we all love so deeply. We have designed the Evelie Strong leotard as a way to not only help with the financial aspect of Evelie’s condition but to show support. Every time the leotard is worn, it will serve as a reminder that Evelie is not alone in this journey. The entire gymnastics community will be standing with her - cheering for every step of her recovery just as loudly as we cheer for every routine.
Evelie has shown us what bravery and true strength looks like, and this leotard is one small way we can wrap her in love and support. We can all be Evelie Strong!
