Grand Rapids Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression

The Grand Rapids Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression attended today’s No Kings protest to encourage community members to keep showing up. Two years ago on April 17th, Samuel SD Sterling was at a gas station when a officer Brian Keely chased him down in his cruiser, pinning him to the side of a Burger King resulting in his death.
Join us Saturday April 18th at 3pm as we gather in honor of Samuel Sterling and every other life lost because of police violence in our city. We ask that the name of the cop who killed Da’Quain Tre’ Johnson to be released as well as the full, unedited body cam footage. We are demanding actual policy change that guarantees justice for victim’s loved ones like Andrica Cage and safety for the community. We are calling for the arrest and prosecution of killer cops including Brian Keely.

On April 17th, 2024 Samuel “SD” Sterling was killed when Brian Keeley, a Michigan State Police sergeant, struck him with an unmarked police vehicle in a Burger King parking lot.
It’s been almost 2 years and SD’s family still has not seen justice for the violent murder of their loved one. Keeley has yet to go to trial, and Sterling’s family has been denied their time in court.
In preparation for the upcoming anniversary of his death, join Samuel’s mother, Andrica Cage, and GRAARPR in creating a banner this coming Wednesday, March 18 at 5:30pm. We will meet at Fountain Street Church in room 102. Food and art supplies will be provided.
