We recently had the opportunity to bring this beautiful 38k-mile 1991 British Racing Green Mazda Miata back to life with a full round of maintenance and restoration work.

We started with all of the important preventative maintenance to make sure this classic is ready for many more years on the road — timing belt, water pump, seals, heater hoses, radiator hoses, brand new radiator, and all fresh fluids throughout the car.

From there, we moved into restoration work. BRG Miatas are well known for having flaking and sticky interior trim over time, so we restored the dashboard along with the original Nardi shift k**b and wooden parking brake handle to preserve that factory look and feel.

The driver’s seat also had some bolster wear, which we repaired as carefully as possible while still maintaining the originality of the interior. We added a custom name plate in the center console ashtray and installed a removable phone holder setup that can be taken off later without damaging the dash.

To finish things off, we detailed the exterior paint and replaced the old tires — the previous set dated back to 2008!

This Miata came in after the top windshield garnish panel flew off while the customer was driving.

After a closer inspection, we found the windshield had been replaced before—and instead of properly replacing the garnish trim, it had been glued back on. Unfortunately, that’s something we see way too often.

To fix it the right way, we replaced the top garnish along with both side pieces, since those had also been glued. This isn’t just a cosmetic issue—loose or improperly installed trim can come off at speed, potentially damaging your car or even putting other drivers at risk, especially on track.

We’ve replaced a lot of ND Miata windshields, and one thing we always do is install new garnish trim every time—no shortcuts.

One of our favorite ND Miatas stopped by for some upgrades today. We installed an HKS supercharger kit on this car over a year ago, and it came back for some serious chassis improvements.
This time around, we added a Goodwin Racing RoadsterSport 4-piece complete underbody ultralight aluminum brace kit along with front subframe braces to tighten everything up and improve overall rigidity.
This is a true dual-purpose build — performs incredibly well on track while still keeping all the comfort of a street car.

We’ve done an extensive amount of work on this build — including a high-compression engine with upgraded cams, full 9Lives Racing aero, hood vents, and painting the recently installed roll cage to finish off the interior properly.
