A little gross if you know what you’re looking at, but this septic tank is a prime example of why you pump your septic tanks on a regular basis( state of Nebraska recommends every 3 years). Septic tanks are designed to reach a capacity of these type of solids to 40% of the tank volume and then it needs to be emptied. This customer waited 20 years and both of the septic tanks were 90% full of solids like this. There was 8” of actual water in the tanks and the rest was this muddy type consistency. No doubt that these solids were overflowing into the leech lines and plugging the soil pores essentially ruining your leech lines. Maintenance is important folks. With everything being more expensive these days, don’t wait until your house line backs up to have the tank pumped.
