Trisha Lake and her team at TLC Cleaning heard that we were low on water during this heat wave. So they set a goal:

Collect enough donations to buy an entire pallet of water for people in need.

They put out the call to their friends, and kicked things off with a $100 commitment.

Jeanette was the first to comment. "I'll do $25," she said.

Before long, support started flooding in. People from around the community wanted to make this happen.

Trisha's team hit their goal of $500, then they went way past it. By the next morning, they had more than $1200!

One pallet of water turned into FOUR pallets, plus a ton of sunscreen. 💧🌞

With a team effort, we got all of this unloaded at the Mission yesterday. Now these water bottles are helping people in need stay safe in the heat.

These are the people who don't have a nice, cool home to go back to. They are the people who are stuck working outside, and the people who are most vulnerable to the heat.

God bless the folks at TLC and everyone who made this possible. This is what community and compassion look like! ❤

Just another reason to love Grand Forks... A lot of our business owners keep an ear out for what is needed in the community. They are good and faithful people who want to help, and they make that a piece of their business.

We're grateful that 3 Farm Daughters is like this. They must have heard that we were totally out of pasta. So, they responded with an 80 pound donation! Now our cooks have some high-quality penne and rotini to work with. This will feed a few hundred hungry people, no problem. 🍝❤ Thank you for your generosity, 3FD!

Heat, hunger, homelessness... stand no chance when good people step in to help. ❤

Big thank you to TLC Cleaning - Grand Forks for collecting water during the heat wave. If you want to help, please check their post!

Three years ago, during a major heat wave, Northland Rescue Mission reached out to our community asking for help. They were running low on bottled water for the people they serve, and our community showed up in an incredible way.

Because of all of you, we were able to donate an entire pallet of bottled water.

This week, they reached out personally to us to see if we can help rally the community.

With the extreme heat, they're once again in need of bottled water for the people staying at the shelter. I'd love for our community to come together and make it happen again.

A full pallet of bottled water costs about $500. If you'd like to help, whether it's $5, $10, $20, or whatever you're comfortable giving, every dollar helps.

Comment below the amount you are willing to contribute and I'll send you my Venmo information. Once we've reached our goal, I'll post updates so everyone can see what we accomplished together.

Let's take care of our neighbors and show, once again, just how generous this community is. ❤️

This is Jason. He spent his own money on 800 water bottles for our community during this heat wave. ❤

Jason is our maintenance manager and peer support specialist, and he has his own incredible story.

Years ago, Jason was struggling bad with addiction. People in Grand Forks stepped up to help him. He accepted that help, beat his addiction, and completely turned his life around.

Now, he's using his story and experience to help others who are going through a similar situation. And he's doing things like this. 🫴💧

Jason's addiction was never who he was, and now his goodness is able to shine through. How many others like him are among us? Perhaps we should help them and find out.

P.S. Several other people dropped off water bottles over the weekend, too. Thank you all so much for helping people stay safe and hydrated until things cool down. We are still accepting water bottle donations at our front office if you want to help.🙏

Anyone else recently looked at the groceries in your cart, then the total on the screen, and thought "how?"

Everyone knows that $100 doesn't go nearly as far at the grocery store as it did a few years ago. That's not your fault.

• The USDA estimated it cost $150 per week to feed a family of four in early 2020. Today, that same estimate is $235 per week — an increase of $85 every week.

• That means families need to come up with an extra $4,400 per year to buy the same amount of groceries they did five years ago.

There is no shame in asking for a bit of help with groceries, especially when times are tough. That's why we're here!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 (𝟭𝟮 - 𝟲 𝗽𝗺) 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 (𝟭𝟮 - 𝟰 𝗽𝗺). There are other great pantries in town that will help too, like the Salvation Army Food Shelf and the HC Community Food Pantry.

Please don't be afraid to get help today, so that you and your family are okay tomorrow. ❤
