I finished this deck about this time last year. By far the hardest one I’ve done, not because of the technicality of it but because of the elements. Waking up seeing anywhere from -18 to -10 on the thermometer, scraping ice off every board to install it, and hauling water from the lake in a 5 gallon bucket to pour concrete all made it very challenging. Nonetheless I’m happy with how it turned out. The Gutierrez family wanted to renovate the exterior of their mountain cabin and decided to start with a massive deck in the front. We all know that’s the main party spot for any getaway cabin. I’m beyond thankful the East Troublesome fire stayed a 1/4 mile away from this one!

This is my favorite way to finish stairs for an entry way. I think it brings more of a welcoming vibe.
