Integrated Packaging Solutions
Bottom Rim Coatings (BRC) directly influence how efficiently cans move through conveying and filling systems. By controlling friction at the base, BRC helps stabilize can flow, reduce jams, and maintain consistent line speeds.
But performance isn’t just about applying coating, it’s about measuring it.
With the Altek Mobility Tester, can makers can quantify coating performance at the rim, ensuring the right balance of friction, durability, and mobility. This enables better process control, faster troubleshooting, and more consistent conveying performance across production lines.
The Altek Mobility Tester also measures the coefficient of friction on coated can bodies, body blanks, and flat samples; making it a versatile tool for evaluating coating performance across the line.
In a bodymaker, alignment is everything.
The punch, redraw die, and ironing dies must remain concentric to control how aluminum flows through the draw and iron process. Even slight misalignment introduces uneven forces; leading to defects like pleats, fractured domes, cracked flanges, along with excessive tooling wear.
The cradle is what holds the system together, providing the structural foundation that maintains alignment across the die pack and forming components. With the ram position fixed, overall alignment depends on how precisely the cradle and its supporting components are set relative to that axis. This includes the redraw sleeve, cup locator, stripper assembly, and domer.
