🧨 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐩𝐥𝐮𝐠𝐬. Ear puffs or even soft foam cat toys placed gently in the ears can significantly muffle the noise. They can safely remain in overnight if needed.

🧨 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞. This reduces both the noise and visual stimulation from fireworks while helping prevent panicked running and potential injuries.

🧨 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐬. Bell boots, sports medicine boots, and/or polo wraps provide added protection to the lower limbs, whether horses are stalled or turned out.

🧨 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝. Stock essentials such as bandages, betadine solution, and triple antibiotic ointment. Our pre-made leg bandage packs contain everything needed to properly wrap a leg and are available at the clinic—it’s always a good idea to have one ready.

🧨 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐟 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞. Some horses may need additional support during fireworks. Talk with your veterinarian to determine whether an anti-anxiety medication or sedative is appropriate. These medications can be administered orally, intramuscularly, or intravenously, depending on your horse’s needs.
