Sounds strange… but it’s already starting to happen.
With Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) technology, homeowners can use their EV as a backup battery for their house.

Here’s the idea:
☀️ During the day → solar charges the car
🌙 At night → the car powers the home

This works through bidirectional charging - meaning energy can flow both ways:
not just grid → EV, but also EV → home through a compatible inverter/charger.

And this isn’t just theory anymore.

Vehicles like the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Hyundai IONIQ 5 are already pushing this forward, with more manufacturers following.

Here’s why it’s interesting:
• EV batteries are often 60–100+ kWh
• That’s significantly larger than most home battery systems (!)
• One vehicle can power a home for 1–2+ days depending on usage

So instead of adding a separate battery, the EV can:
• Store excess solar energy
• Reduce grid dependency
• Provide backup during outages

It’s still early, but the direction is clear:
PV + Storage
➡️ PV + EV integration

And soon, homeowners won’t just ask: “Do I need a battery?”
They’ll ask: “Can my car power my house?”
