To close out Older Americans Month, here is a glimpse of what Social Call is all about and what one of our members has to say about his experience!

A lot of Americans see aging as something negative—like getting weaker or becoming dependent—but that mindset is deeply built into our culture, from birthday cards to anti-aging ads. Research shows even older people don’t like to think of themselves as “old,” and many of us have unconscious bias against aging. A group of organizations set out to change that by introducing a new way to think about aging: as “building momentum,” where experience and wisdom help people keep growing and making a difference. This simple shift in language helps people feel more positive about aging and can reduce age-based bias. If we change how we talk about aging, we can change how we think about it—and ultimately how society treats older adults.
