I recently attended the IEEE Energy Conversion Conference and Exposition (ECCE) in Nashville along with four students and a post doc. We had a pretty good showing presenting four papers: 'The Use of Digital Twins in Inverter-based DERs to Improve Nanogrid Fault Recovery', 'Design and Surface Flashover Test of 10 kV SiC Power Module for DC Shipboard Application', 'Modeling and Validation of Common-mode Emissions of Silicon Carbide Enabled Motor Drive in Extended EMC Frequency Range' and 'Novel XGBoost Classifier Based Relaying Approach with 2 Classes of Protection Zone'.

Autonomously re-configurable nano-grid based microgrids are one way to mitigate these kinds of attacks. Electrical distribution networks can be made more resilient if they can draw power from multiple sources through re-configurable power and communication networks. The need for this technology is becoming critical.
