"The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it." – Proverbs 10:22
Anna’s Cupboard lovingly provides furniture and other items to needy families in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area. The organization was founded by Vanessa Robinson, who serves as its CEO. The vision of Anna’s Cupboard began with her mother, Anna Marie Bonnett’s. She had a tremendous capacity to love and care for her family and community. Vanessa honors her mother’s gift by offering Christ’s love to the St. Louis community through the services of Anna’s Cupboard.
Vanessa worked on a website for Anna's Cupboard about a year ago. However, she found creating a website wasn’t making the most of her already limited time. Vanessa was fully committed to building a website. However, she lacked the expertise to implement some interactive features that her organization’s website needed, like an intake form to process new clients.
At the time, one of her board members, my brother, Howard “Dallas” Jamison, III, informed her that I have a web design company and was interested in helping.
Starting in June of last year, Vanessa and I met monthly over Zoom to discuss the variety of content she wanted on her website. I took her feedback and came back every month with updated copy or layouts.
Vanessa would pray to open (sometimes) and (always) close our meetings, and I felt the profound depth of her faith. I also witnessed her sincere appreciation for my services and thoughtfulness and was nearly moved to tears one day.
Even though I am a thoughtful, caring, and (try to be) kind man, as a web designer, it’s easy to get caught up in details like HTML tags or a bunch of seemingly endless items to check. Or concern myself with making business efficient and timely.
I measured my value by my ability to execute a working version of my client's concept.
However, working with Vanessa opened my heart and soul to the idea that my design skills can be a true blessing to those I have the privilege of working with. And to the value of humbly and thoughtfully carrying out their wishes.
A well-designed website can spread awareness in their community for their services. Or allow them to fundraise more effectively.
I can honestly say I felt blessed working with Vanessa and her incomparable spirit and faith. I grew as a professional and human being while working with her. I value my work more notably and personally.
As the bible verse above reads, working with her and the rest of Anna’s Cupboard board was a pleasure.
So, with no further ado, I want to present the result of my work with Vanessa: https://annascupboard.org
